An subterranean living space with a floor area that equals most or all of the home's ground level must be accommodated by a full basement foundation that starts with a hole at least eight feet deep. The walls of the structural foundation will be built on concrete footings that surround the basement. Those footings must be positioned at least 12 inches below the frost line and previously undisturbed soil. Beams will then be poured, foundation walls will be built, and a cement slab will be poured inside the walls.
